FAQ
The Basics
The Negroni is named after Count Camillo Negroni, who first ordered an Americano cocktail made with gin instead of soda water back in 1919.
The only way to be sure is to try all of them. And even after that, the answer may well be “all of them.”
Yes, our negronis are gluten-free. They are also free of artificial flavors, contrived personality quirks, and political agendas.
The Negroni is traditionally considered an aperitif, which is served before a meal to stimulate the palate. That said, there’s no wrong time for a Negroni.

Serving & Preserving
Chill your bottle in the refrigerator first–or on ice, if you want more old school charm. Then pour into a chilled glass, or a glass with ice. Garnish an Original or Chocolate Negroni with an orange slice. Garnish a Mezcalito or Espresso Negroni with a fresh orange peel.
NYCC cocktails are perfectly premixed, meaning that they are at their ideal dilution already. If you pour them over ice while they’re still warm, they’ll become too diluted, but if you chill them and then pour them into a chilled glass or over ice, they’ll stay cold and at the perfect strength.
A rocks glass is usually the go-to glass for a Negroni. No one will think less of you if you’d like to use a different kind of glass, but the rocks glass is classic, simple, and leaves room for ice and garnish.
You can use any size ice cube you like. The big ones melt slower, especially if you chill your cocktail first, so that’s a nice way to keep it cold without diluting your drink. But no one will arrest you or look down upon you if you use ordinary ice cubes.
If you’ve opened a bottle and there’s still some cocktail left after more than 2 hours, you should refrigerate it. We should mention that in our experience this is an unusual situation, but if it does occur, that’s how to handle it.
They don’t typically last enough for the question to arise. But if it does, sealing the bottle up tightly and putting it in the refrigerator should keep it fresh until the time you decide to finish it off.
